As some of you may be aware, KAM Design and Urban Kitchens have been an official sponsor for Lymphoma Action for over 18 months now. In this time as a company, we have raised above £2000. This is an ongoing commitment to the charity and one that is very close to our hearts.
When Our Lancaster branch Manager came to us and announced, he would be raising funds for Lymphoma Action in 2019 we were somewhat delighted. This is a little insight from Steve of what he’s personally achieved and raised for this very worthy charity…..
At the beginning of 2019, I set up my fundraising page and set an initial target of £300. Today as I write this I am thrilled to say I smashed that and currently the figure is £533.17.
Despite a tough year in all aspects, my efforts to attend events, get out training and set new challenges has never faltered.
My personal challenges I set myself started in January to get the year started with ‘RED January’ (Run Every Day in January) where every single day of the month I had to run at least 1.5 miles. My most recent challenge has been the ‘Ten 10k’s run in 10 days’. My last challenge will be complete very soon which was to cover 1000 kilometres for the year, I am only 13.8 kilometres short of this target which is barely 8.5 miles.
In total, I have entered 15 race events during the year, including 3 x Half Marathons, 1 x 10-mile event and 11 x 10k’s. I have travelled locally over the North West for events and also as far as Newcastle, Sunderland and Anglesey.
It has been an honour and a pleasure to not only run in the Lymphoma Action colours but to also try to show my support the best way I can.
