Go On An Adventure
As summer is on the decline and the days are becoming fresher, why not get the ‘gang’ together and enjoy an adventure in the outdoors?
We have compiled a little adventure package for you ‘guys and gals’ and we hope you will enjoy getting outdoors in the following weeks to brush off those Covid Cobwebs.
Preston Guild Wheel
The Guild Wheel is a 21-mile circular route that can be ridden or walked in any direction for as far as you want. You can join the route at any point on the way. Sounds like an adventure!
The route is mainly off-road and traffic-free, providing a scenic and safe cycling and walking route for all the family to use.
Use the map to help plan your route around the entire Guild Wheel or to create shorter cycling and walking routes to suit your location and ability.
Formby
Formby Beach is a great adventure for families, with picnic areas and waymarked paths to the beach, dunes and woods. These high dunes afford excellent views across the Irish Sea and on clear days after rain, even the mountains of Cumbria can be seen.
The coast here is undergoing erosion and the tides often reveal prehistoric mud layers, some of which contain human and animal footprints. Look out for these the length of Formby Beach from Lifeboat Road northwards of the National Trust property.
If you fancy having an adventure and exploring more off the beaten track, a walk to the south through Ravenmeols Sandhills will reward you with wide expanses of dunes, even more beach, pleasant woodlands, and relics of past developments.
